Ethiopia 🇪🇹 and Italy 🇮🇹 Strengthen Economic Ties Ahead of 2026–2028 Cooperation Agreement

Ababa, November 17, 2025 – H.E. Semereta Sewasew, State Minister at Ethiopia’s Ministry of Finance, met today with Italy’s newly appointed Ambassador, H.E. Sem Fabrizi, to prepare the 2026–2028 bilateral cooperation agreement and explore ways to deepen the long-standing partnership between the two countries.

The leaders focused on five key areas:

• Tackling structural constraints

• Enhancing security

• Boosting trade and Foreign Direct Investment (FDI)

• Accelerating economic reforms

• Strengthening economic cooperation

H.E. Sewasew highlighted that Ethiopia’s ongoing economic liberalization opens significant opportunities for strategic partnerships, with blended finance and Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs) playing a central role in fostering lasting business success.

Both leaders committed to working closely to promote investment, stimulate economic development, and reinforce historic ties between Ethiopia and Italy.
