COIPA Italia: A Bridge Between Europe and Africa for Sustainable Development
COIPA Italia has taken the baton from COIPA International, COIPA Capital and COIPA Energy with regard to the development of new projects in Africa, in the fields of energy and infrastructure, that are capable to attract interest for partnership by leading Italian and European companies.
Our aim is to promote initiatives that, at the same time, represent attractive investment or business opportunities for such companies, a means for creating productive assets and fostering the growth of the target country’s economy, and a tool for generating long lasting social benefits for the local population.
Through the experience gained by the predecessor companies of COIPA Group, the consolidated relationships with Governments and institutions, the successful cooperation with industry and market leaders, the brilliant track record of our managers, we strive to bring challenging large-scale projects from initial conception to implementation.
Our focus is on projects that represent an opportunity for hosting countries to make significant steps towards a steady improvement of economy, industrial base and social conditions.
Our role spans from early stage conception and submission of deal concept to the local Governments and public institutions, to technical, business and financial structuring, development and implementation.
COIPA Italia Leads New Development Projects in Africa
COIPA Italia is spearheading new energy and railways infrastructure initiatives in Africa, building on the legacy of COIPA International, Capital, and Energy. The goal is to attract leading Italian and European partners while supporting economic growth and long-term social impact in host countries.
Backed by strong institutional ties and proven expertise, COIPA Italia drives projects from concept to completion.
Project Structuring
We support governments and public institutions in selected African countries in conceiving, structuring, and developing new initiatives from the early stages, with the aim of creating significant market opportunities and delivering tangible social benefits.
Capital Investment
We involve major industrial players from Italy and other European countries to join such new initiatives as an opportunity for invesment by contributing sectorial experience to, and deploying equity capital in, special purpose companies and/or public private partnership established with local operators.
Technology, equipment and machineries
Through the involvement of such industrial market leaders in the relevant sectors, we also create an opportunity for supplies of state-of-the-art technology, equipment, machineries, digital platforms, and all goods, services, and systems critical to efficient project execution, with a view to creating the basis for implementation of production factories of such goods and services in the host country over the medium term.
Building on local technical expertise and capacity
By developing new projects, we create the basis for the enactment of comprehensive training and knowledge transfer program to build the technical capacity of local professionals.
Mobilization of capital and public/institutional support
We help mobilize capital required for both initial operations and infrastructure setup and leverage on our financial networks to secure additional investment as well as long term debt and concessional financing through the involvement of financial institutions and investment funds.
Public institutions are also mobilized to provide support, grants and/or subsidies (also through the involvement of the Italian Government and European Union under the umbrella of the Mattei Plan for Africa and other Italian/European sources) and financial support through SACE SpA (the Italian Export Credit Agency) and other European ECAs.
Business Development and Market Access
We will leverage on our international presence consolidated relationships with several countries in the African continent to identify new regional project opportunities across East and Central Africa as well as to help participate in local/regional tenders.
Corporate Governance and Strategic Planning
With reference to each local established joint venture, special purpose company or PPP, we establish robust corporate governance frameworks, strategic business plans, and operational policies that align with both national priorities and recognised applicable international business standards, capable to consolidate long-term effective benefits and a steady flow of revenues and return.
Compliance, Standards, and Quality Assurance
We will ensure that local business developed with our support proves at all times to be in line with global benchmarks, including ISO and FIDIC standards, and will assist in the development of in-house quality control systems.
