1. Project Overview
The Ethiopian Railway Corporation (ERC) aims to implement the development of the Indode Station Port Logistics Project, with the objective of harnessing the full potential of the already built Addis Ababa–Djibouti Railway line. The project also aligns with future initiatives intended to connect Ethiopia with Kenya, Sudan, and Somalia. The Indode Station Port Logistics is envisioned to be located in the surrounding area of the existing and operational Indode Freight Station. It intends to fully utilize this infrastructure by capitalizing on the surrounding assets such as the Addis Ababa–Djibouti Railway line, expressways, and several other roads. These connections enhance accessibility to different parts of the country, including the Addis Ababa Bole International Airport. The strategic location, with Addis Ababa as the nation’s trading center, offers unique geographical advantages.
2. Project Location
The Indode Station Port Logistics Development Project site is centrally located in Ethiopia, approximately 26 kilometers southeast of the center of Addis Ababa.

The Indode Station Port Logistics Development Project is believed to be strategically at an important location.
It is taken to be important railway hub as it sits in the central part of the nation networking with the main import-export line of Ethio-Djibouti Railway line. Further it is also just outside the capital city Addis Ababa.
Project Description
Based on the Terms of Reference (ToR) of the service, the Ethiopian Railways Corporation has gotten approval from the Public Private Partnership Board, established as per Article 8 of Proclamation No. 1076/2018, to carry out the Indode Station Port Logistics Development Project. ERC, in consideration of Article 16 of the same proclamation, has approval to carry out a detailed and bankable feasibility study as a Contracting Authority.
Ethiopian Railways Corporation intends the Indode Station Port Logistics Development Project to have major domestic and international influence, which will promote the further development of Ethiopia’s domestic industry. Based on the advantages of transportation, policies, resources, and infrastructure, and through unified management and mutual cooperation, accordingly, the ERC aims to build and expand the operational Indode Freight Station within the already existing station.
