ETHIOPIAN RAILWAYS CORPORATION PARTNERS WITH COIPA CAPITAL TO DRIVE INFRASTRUCTURE DEVELOPMENT
The Ethiopian Railways Corporation (ERC) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with COIPA Capital, a firm recognized for its expertise in identifying high-yield investment opportunities, to advance strategic railway and logistics initiatives across the country.
The agreement, signed by ERC Deputy CEO Getu Gizaw and COIPA Capital CEO Vito Favorito Sciammarella, represents a significant step toward the modernization of Ethiopia’s infrastructure. During the ceremony, Mr. Getu described the partnership as a “strategic milestone” in building world-class logistics and railway systems designed to accelerate economic growth.
The collaboration will focus on key initiatives, including:

Developing port logistics projects,

Constructing ERC’s new Mixed-Use Commercial Headquarters,

Establishing an infrastructure construction and consultancy unit.
“These projects reflect ERC’s commitment to driving economic growth, strengthening regional integration, and ensuring sustainable development,” emphasized Mr. Getu.
Expressing his enthusiasm, Mr. Sciammarella stated: “This initiative will not only create opportunities for Ethiopia but will also enhance connectivity across Central and East Africa.” He further pledged to mobilize European expertise and financing solutions in support of Ethiopia’s ambitious infrastructure agenda.
Under the MoU, COIPA Capital will provide technical, financial, and advisory support, leveraging its extensive experience in large-scale industrial projects to contribute to Ethiopia’s economic and logistical transformation.
