National Railway Investment Conference Held in Addis Ababa

The Ethiopian Land Railway Corporation (ELRC) held a National Railway Investment Conference on October 11, 2018 E.C. at the Skylight Hotel to promote public–private partnerships in the railway sector.
Minister of Transport and Logistics, Mr. Denge Boru, emphasized that railways should not only reduce costs but also connect industries and enhance Ethiopia’s international logistics capacity, building a modern and sustainable railway system.
ELRC CEO, Eng. Hilina Belhew, stated that the Corporation’s vision is to make Ethiopia the logistics hub of the Horn of Africa, fostering regional connectivity and trade. She reaffirmed ELRC’s commitment to collaborate with investors in logistics, dry ports, and infrastructure projects.
Board Chairman, Eng. Birhanu Tesfaye, highlighted that the railway represents a sustainable economic and social asset, not a financial burden.
AU Commissioner for Infrastructure, Mr. Lerato Matabome, praised Ethiopia’s leadership in railway development, calling it a model for African nations pursuing self-reliant infrastructure growth.
