Italy and Mauritania Join Forces for Clean Energy
Italy and Mauritania are strengthening their partnership in the renewable energy sector with a landmark €2.5 billion project focused on green hydrogen and ammonia production for export to Europe.
Developed by COIPA Energy in collaboration with Mauritania’s Ministry of Energy and Petroleum, the initiative combines large-scale solar and wind generation to power hydrogen electrolysis, which will then be converted into ammonia and transported via pipeline to the Port of Nouakchott for export.
This project marks a significant step forward in the global energy transition, while deepening cooperation between the two countries in key sectors such as energy, agriculture, health, and sustainable development.
